不知道《看门狗》玩家们是否已经用上了Guru3D网友TheWorse制作的超级MOD了呢?这个MOD让《看门狗》的画面更加逼真,尤其是一些之前展示时候又、正式发布却被砍掉的惊艳特效得以“重见天日”,譬如雾、焦外虚化景深、车头灯等等,而且这些“新特性”也没让游戏崩溃。不过这也带来了一个引人深思的讨论话题:育碧为什么要砍掉这些特性呢?
有玩家猜测,育碧这样做是要刻意降低PC版的游戏表现,以减少PC版与家用主机版的差距。后来,有MOD制作者在游戏文件中发现了一句足以证实这种猜测的留言:“This
is PC only, who cares.”我想这句话不用翻译,大家也明白开发商的意思了。
今日,《看门狗》开发团队在官方论坛上给出了说法,表示他们没有刻意这么做,禁用某些特效是为了避免可能对视觉保真度、稳定性、性能和整体游戏质量产生的影响。MOD虽然在某些情况下带来了更逼真的效果,但还是会有各种可能会影响玩家愉悦感的负面影响。

The dev team is completely dedicated to getting the most out of each
platform, so the notion that we would actively downgrade quality is contrary to
everything we’ve set out to achieve. We test and optimize our games for each
platform on which they’re released, striving for the best possible quality. The
PC version does indeed contain some old, unused render settings that were
deactivated for a variety of reasons, including possible impacts on visual
fidelity, stability, performance and overall gameplay quality. Modders are
usually creative and passionate players, and while we appreciate their
enthusiasm, the mod in question (which uses those old settings) subjectively
enhances the game’s visual fidelity in certain situations but also can have
various negative impacts. Those could range from performance issues, to
difficulty in reading the environment in order to appreciate the gameplay, to
potentially making the game less enjoyable or even unstable.
实际上也有一些尝试过这个MOD的玩家表示,确实是会遇到各种问题。譬如说Rock
Paper Shotgun网站就提到,焦外虚化景深让玩家无法正常地射击距离稍远的目标。而本站也有网友留言表示,车头灯投影有BUG,雨天效果很好但帧速会降低。
当然,这个MOD另一方面也促进了开发团队继续完善《看门狗》,让这个游戏走得更远,本周三官方就推出了新补丁,修复了低、中档画质的一些小问题,而且还改进了一些方面的性能表现。
